We believe that safe autonomous transport of the future will not only mean smart, intelligent cars driving autonomously, but also smart, intelligent infrastructure. And these smart devices will work together to deliver safe and efficient automated transport.<\/p>\n<p>The main research area of the <a href=\"https:\/\/auto.bme.hu\/en\/research\/automated-drive-lab\/vehicle-dynamics-control-research-group\/\"><strong>Vehicle Dynamics and Control<\/strong><\/a> research group is vehicle control at and beyond the dynamic limit, one of the most striking examples of which is drifting in a car that is not driven by a human.<\/p>\n<p>Our <a href=\"https:\/\/auto.bme.hu\/en\/safetysecurity\/\"><strong>Safety and Security<\/strong> <\/a>research group has a long tradition in the field of traffic accident analysis and reconstruction. Today, we no longer separate safety and security, but treat them as one. We say that a failure can result in a cyber security problem, but equally a cyber security vulnerability can result in a safety problem or failure.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle-related areas are covered by the <a href=\"https:\/\/auto.bme.hu\/en\/research\/innovative-vehicle-technologies\/\"><strong>Innovative Vehicle Technologies<\/strong><\/a> research group. The focus of education has shifted strongly towards electromobility, hydrogen powertrain and renewable energies.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/auto.bme.hu\/en\/materials-and-manufacturing-technology\/\">Laser and Vehicle Manufacturing Technologies<\/a><\/strong> research group focuses on materials science and manufacturing technologies used in automotive manufacturing. In the field of additive manufacturing, better known as 3D printing, we are mainly working with metals and the related selective laser melting process, <span>which has been one of the outstanding activities of the department for many years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Our department has a large fleet of <a href=\"https:\/\/auto.bme.hu\/en\/equipment\/\">instruments and tools<\/a> for research and teaching activities, which are described in detail <a href=\"https:\/\/auto.bme.hu\/en\/equipment\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We collaborate with a number of industrial partners in our research identifier: Examination of the characteristics of laser surface treatment<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In the research, our goal was to determine the technological parameters of the laser beam material processing system found in the Technical Institute of Edutus University in the case of laser beam hardening and laser beam coating. The laser treatment was C45 and the coating was done on S235 steel plates. The layering was done using nickel-based tungsten carbide powder, which improves wear resistance. During the tests, we used a disk laser radiation source with a maximum power of 4 kW in a TRUMPF 7020 laser cell. By changing the various main influencing parameters, the selected technological parameters were produced which, among the surface properties, increased the resistance to wear the most.
